Five Jackson-area events you won't want to miss

1. Choir's preview concert

On June 6, Jackson's First United Methodist Church Chancel Choir will join more than 500 singers from 24 from choirs from around the country for a concert at Carnegie Hall.

The 70-member ensemble will present a preview concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church, 275 W. Michigan Ave.

Admission to the preview concert is free. For more information, call the church at 787-6460.

2. Walker Tavern picnic

The Walker Tavern in Cambridge Township will have its second annual Farmers and Friends Community Picnic on Sunday.

The tavern is at 13220 M-50 at the crossroads with U.S. 12.

3. CD release concert

In the next week, Michigan Center High School graduate Don Middlebrook is having CD release parties across the state for his 12th album, "Beach Bar Serenade." His hometown show is from 7 to 11 p.m. today at Bone Island Grille, 4615 Francis St., Vandercook Lake.

4. Dahlem storytelling

The program will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday and is intended for children 8 and older and their parents.

Admission is free for Dahlem members and $3 for nonmembers. Advanced registration is required. Call 782-3453 to reserve a spot.
