Community Medallion Hunt, a fundraiser tied in with the Ella Sharp Museum of Art and History's upcoming exhibit on artist and naturalist John James Audubon and the Jackson County Rose Festival.
The hunt starts Monday. Each day next week, a local business will be announced in the Citizen Patriot, on WKHM-FM (105.3) and on JTV's "The Bart Hawley Show." Visitors who show a Hunt Pass will be given a clue and a question. The clues will point to the location of a hidden medallion.
To participate, you'll need to pick up a pass from the museum, 3225 Fourth St. Cost is $10.
The passes also are good for free entry to a party June 5 that will serve as the kickoff to both the exhibit and the festival.

The event will offer an opportunity to become involved in "Jackson Business Leaders for Health," a collaborative effort by local employers to improve Jackson's workforce. It took Missy Shelhart a little more than a month to reopen Missy's Little Grass Shack after most of the building was destroyed during a fire April 25, and Shelhart has several customers to thank for helping get the doors opened.

MDOT to begin construction of a center-turn lane on US-127 in Jackson County
Tuesday, May 26, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin initial construction for a center left-turn lane on US-127 from Ayers Road to Floyd Avenue in southern Jackson County.
Work next week includes temporary widening of the roadway so traffic can be maintained for the remainder of the project. Traffic will be reduced to 45 mph through the work zone, and one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction.

The annual event, which is hosted by the Midtown Association,

The event is scheduled for Aug. 15 and will take
place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Mechanic Street,
between Cortland Street and Washington Avenue.
